Past Issue: Morphing Me 水圖

Dear friends:

On May 24th (Friday, 18:30-20:30), the twelfth UNTITLEDdialogue will partner with MADArt Creative to present a free community preview of Morphing Me, a multidisciplinary arts experience at Flamboyán Theater, Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in Lower East Side. Directed by Hong Kong artist Santino Lo, the performance gets its Chinese title from Song Dynasty Chinese painter Ma Yuan's Water Album, a painting archive for changing water of different quality, direction and speed. The theater is transformed into an interactive environment, centered with a fluorescent water installation - Glow. The interactive stage morphs and shifts with music and dance, delivering an impact and an unforgettable experience. The hour-long performance will be accompanied by a talk with the artists.

Change is the essential process of all life forms. Inspired by the changing nature of water – dancers, musicians and visual artist work together and explore the idea of individual and collective transformation and transference of power. MADArt director Santino Lo built up a water installation with ultraviolet light and fluorescent enhanced water. Based on the installation, resident choreographer Lauren Camp choreographs a dance piece on 6 dancers with music performed by America’s leading modern trombone collective Guidonian Hand and composed by ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award winner Jeremy Howard Beck. To bring in visual arts components, Columbian artist Leo Castaneda will exhibit his illusionistic abstract paintings, and work with Artistic Director Santino Lo to design the moving environment.

This event is a community preview of the actual performance night on May 25th which will include the full-length performance and an after-party featuring Paris-based post-modern jazz trio The Kandinsky Effect. UNTITLEDdialogue community and students from the Two Bridges community are invited to the community preview for free.
